Here's Shawn enjoying a low alcohol Utah Coors Light on our balcony at the Lodge. The low alcohol beer didn't bother him as much as the caffeine free Barqs root beer. That almost brought him to tears.
Approaching sunset.
As I mentioned, the Zion Lodge is in the heart of the park. This means that wildlife just strolls along beside you. The pictures look pretty now but I promise it makes your heart skip a beat. When the light is fading and you just read through the pamphlet about cougars and bobcats coming out at night, it's only natural -- especially if you're an ex-city now burb dweller who jumped when every teeny weeny lizard crossed her path (who would be such a weenie?). Anyway, it turns out that the most dangerous animal in these parts is the chipmunk.
For us, it was a gigantic mule deer a few feet away. She was just out cruising for a a little sunset snack.

What no 'mini bears"? What's a trip to the SW without seeing Shawn's favorite attack animal? (For those of you who don't know, 'mini bears' like to try to distract someone while their friends try to get into the backpack for food. They are in fact large chipmunks). Right Shawn!
Great pictures, Love Janet
Love viewing all these trip photos - and your narratives are great - just like being there! Janet - LOVE your story about the mini-bears! Maybe we can get Shawn a mini-bear stuffed animal for Christmas! Mom/Cheryl (:
Shawn, you're just missing a big bag of Cheetos in your lap!
