Monster Madness

It's official. The green monster is all it's cracked up to be. It is awesome! We arrived early enough to enjoy half of batting practice. The balls were flying up on the monster every few minutes. All of the kids around us got a ball to take home. The atmosphere was great and everyone was in a fantastic mood.

We went with Mike and Todd who also went to Fairfield. We were all pumped up!

There are some awesome things about the monster that no one ever mentions. First, the monster has two snack bars. This means you spend no time in line and you're always enjoying the view. Second, there is a private bathroom. This is priceless. I walked in and the bathroom was clean and empty. Heaven!

We had the pleasure of sharing the monster with 20 members of the US Navy. Captain Ken Bull is one of the coolest guys on the planet. Bows and blows! It was incredibly refreshing to hear how many people passing by stopped to thank them for their service to the country. It also cracked us up how many ladies stopped to take a picture with the Navy dream boats!







The game ended and we weren't leaving. We had to be shooed out by security. That was the only way I was leaving the monster!

Patrick in Portland

Pat mentioned that he had never been to Portland. So on the way back home, we decided to give him a little tour. We weren't able to meet up with Meg :( but did our best...okay, we completely recreated the tour Meg gave us on our first visit.

We went from the Western Promenade to the Eastern Promenade, stopping at Fort Allen Park.

Pat loves history and really loves signage filled with historical information. Here he is pumped up on the way to the first historical marker.

Oooooooooh, a sign. Apparently, Fort Allen Park has the remains of an 1814 era fort. That's probably what the signs talked about but I didn't read them.


After lunch on the water, we got lost but happily stumbled upon a gorgeous beach somewhere on Cape Elizabeth.

Patrick and Shawn share a deep devotion to and love for climbing on rocks, particularly when the rocks are surrounded by water. I knew better than to join them, I took pictures instead!

Last Weekend in Maine

Last weekend, we visited Amy, Jared and James in Maine. They have a gorgeous and gigantic house. We're secretly planning to move into their retro basement as soon as our order of bell bottoms arrive! James was quite the host and made sure to show us each and everyone of his cars. (No, that's not a dinosaur in the back. That's their greyhound, Gracie.) Then we learned that James has a good future in modelling. Sure, we all know he has the hair but did you know he has the pout?! Meet the next Zoolander...

In the afternoon, we took a trip to the playground. James displayed his impressive athletic skills. If the modelling track doesn't work out, James can always go the Olympian route.

I forgot to mention that their house is a one minute walk from a beautiful lake. This was a big day for James. He received his first water gun. Now he can really make friends with the neighborhood kids by squirting them in the eyes and what not.
